Twitter CEO defends decision not to ban Alex Jones, Infowars

Alex Jones and the rise of corporate censorship

Twitter boss Jack Dorsey has defended his company's decision not to ban Alex Jones, saying the American conspiracy theorist "hasn't violated our rules".

Dorsey also appeared to reference the decisions by other big tech firms in recent days to shut down Jones and Infowars.

"We know that's hard for many, but the reason is simple: he hasn't violated our rules. We'll enforce if he does", he said. But it became a hot issue in the USA after companies like Facebook, Google and Twitter were accused of failing to stop alleged Russian interference during the 2016 presidential election.

He said he wanted the company to avoid succumbing to outside pressure but instead impartially enforce straightforward principles "regardless of political viewpoints".

What's more surprising is that Google is also including a pair of wired USB Type-C headphones that feature a Pixel Buds design. The Android 9 Pie release is the proof in the proverbial pudding that Android as an operating system has hit its stride.

Dorsey placed the responsibility of policing Jones' account on journalists, as opposed to the company itself: "Accounts like Jones' can often sensationalise issues and spread unsubstantiated rumours, so it's critical journalists document, validate and refute such information directly so people can form their own opinions".

Dorsey then went on to say that it was the job of reporters to shoot down any false assertions made by Jones.

Jones earlier this week responded to the shutdowns of his accounts by slamming social media platform providers as "lying bullies".

The four pages, the Alex Jones Channel Page, the Alex Jones Page, the InfoWars Page and the Infowars Nightly News Page, have been "unpublished for repeated violations of Community Standards and accumulating too many strikes".

Body Of Young Boy Found At New Mexico Compound, Identity Unconfirmed
When the Sheriff's Office Response Team moved on the compound, the only things they found for food were some potatoes and rice. But Wahhaj and Morten initially refused to follow commands and Wahhaj was armed with a rifle and four handguns, Hogrefe said.

The argument put forth is that the content posted by Infowars and Jones to other platforms is different to the content posted by Jones to Twitter itself. Apple Inc. and Spotify Technology SA have taken similar actions against podcasts produced by Jones.

Dorsey said in his posts that "we've been awful at explaining our decisions in the past". While he doesn't look like Jones, he sounds just like him while parodying the Infowars host calling on viewers to send donations in wake of popular platforms turning against him.

Without the exposure from these platforms, Buckford introduced a new way to get his message to viewers: Brainfight Hivemind, which involves Buckford screaming at a swarm of bees that are released into the world so they can sting his message "directly into your bloodstream".
