Trump to Meet with Queen Elizabeth II and Britain's PM Amid Protests

The trip coincides with a tumultuous week for May after two senior ministers resigned in protest.

.

US President Donald Trump arrived in London on Thursday on a two-day visit and said he is "fine" about the protests expected to be held during his tour, saying Britons "like me a lot".

Trump spoke after leaving behind a fog of confusion at a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels on Wednesday and Thursday.

President Trump is scheduled to meet British Prime Minister Theresa May, who wants a post-Brexit trade deal, days after President Trump said the United Kingdom was in "turmoil".

He said: "I am going to a pretty hot spot right now with a lot of resignations". Some of their signs read: "Dump Trump", "Lock Him Up", and "There Will Be Hell Toupee". "The people voted to break it up so I imagine that is what they would do, but maybe they're taking a different route".

Prosecutors: Manafort treated like 'VIP' in jail with own bathroom, phone
The prosecutors' filing says Manafort has everything he needs to prepare for the trial, including his own phone and computer. Manafort is facing trials in Washington and Virginia on tax evasion, bank fraud, lying to investigators and other charges.

That matters because the government has been clinging to the idea of trade deals with countries outside the European Union as one of the benefits of Brexit, and claiming that the choice in the Chequers deal to stay close to the European Union doesn't exclude those opportunities.

He has also said he might speak to Boris Johnson, who quit as foreign secretary over May's plans.

Some Brexit supporters have cast May's Brexit plan as a betrayal, including lawmakers in her own deeply-divided party who have warned of a leadership challenge.

"We had an opportunity to have an exchange about economic developments, on issues such as migration, and also the future of our trade relations", she said, after a tete-a-tete on Trump's anti-EU trade war.

May contacted Trump days after he was inaugurated, extending the invitation for a coveted state visit that would be hosted by Queen Elizabeth II, but that gesture has proved far more controversial than expected as Trump has shown little interest in maintaining "diplomacy as usual" with European allies. Around 50 percent think the visit should go ahead, compared with 37 percent who think the visit should be canceled.

How Trump's former lawyer evolved on dealing with Mueller
It has remained unclear where Cohen's loyalty lies after an ABC News interview where he said, "I put family and country first". The president did nothing wrong with him, so we've gone through every document we can. "We see no evidence of it".

Gardner, who works with refugees as part of her doctoral research at the London School of Economics, said Trump's speeches about refugees and immigrants are "a very unsafe line of rhetoric to be normalized".

She went on: "Mr President, Sir Winston Churchill once said that "to have the United States at our side was, to me, the greatest joy".

On Thursday night, hundreds of demonstrators chanted outside the USA ambassador's residence where Trump was staying on the outskirts of London, providing a preview of the forceful protests expected on Friday. "They were frank, but there was no finger-pointing or lack of respect", the French president said.

Lance Price, who served as former Prime Minister Tony Blair's media adviser, told the Independent that no matter what the American convoy contends, the fact that Donald Trump is avoiding London points to a moral victory for the protesters. A 19-foot-tall orange balloon, shaped to look like a baby version of President Trump, will be flown in central London.

A statement on the United States embassy website warns USA citizens to "be aware of your surroundings (and) exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings that may become violent".

North Korea talks either 'very productive' or 'deeply regrettable'
And he said progress had been made towards agreeing "the modalities" of North Korea's destruction of a missile facility. Just hours after Pompeo arrived in Tokyo , the North blasted the discussions, saying the visit had been 'regrettable '.

May said in remarks during a banquet on Thursday with Mr. Trump at Blenheim Palace, Churchill's birthplace.
