Dedicated Google Podcasts App Launched For Android

Google Makes Android Messages for Web Official, Announces Other...

You'll need to open Messages for web on your computer, then scan the QR code there with your phone. Prior to this app, users could either listen to podcasts in Google Play Music or use an obscure player integrated into Android's search feature. Currently, the Messages for Web supports only Chrome browser and is expected to add support for all the other browsers in the near future. The feature is rolling out to users beginning today, June 18, according to The Verge.

By launching a web client, Google is signaling its willingness to compete with iMessage, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and many other feature-rich messaging clients.

The Google Podcasts app is now available for Android devices and can be downloaded on Play Store.

Smart Reply You're on the go when somebody texts you "where are you?" and instead of wasting time typing up a response, there will now be the option to tap potentially fitting replies like "Be there soon" or 'On my way!'.

The service is part of the tech giant's grand scheme of "Chat" a messaging client aiming to replace the default SMS messaging application on Android phones. Desktop support, Google says, is one of the most requested features for Messages, and as you'd expect from the company it has looked straight to the browser to deliver it. Like nearly all of Google's other products, Podcasts will be powered by some AI smarts. These are much like reply templates that users can tap and send to their contacts.
