Trump once fought legislation requiring sprinklers in NYC buildings

People on the streets of New York stopped to capture the incredible scene at the president's Manhattan residence

New York City Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro confirmed as much afterward, when talking with reporters after blaze, which killed a 67-year-old resident of a 50 floor apartment.

Todd Brassner from the 50 floor of 721 Fifth Ave. was found unconscious in his apartment by firefighters Saturday night.

The four firefighters also suffered smoke inhalation in the blaze, but were expected to recover.

"President Trump tweeted that the fire was "Very confined" - adding in parentheses - "well built building".

A fire has broken out at Trump Tower in NY, with black smoke and flames seen billowing from one of the upper storeys.

As the opioid crisis continues, Americans are seeing the price of overdose-reversal drugs climb higher and higher . The United States Surgeon General urged the public to carry naloxone and learn how to use it.

Unfortunately, a resident in an apartment on the 50th floor was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Some fire-safety advocates wanted older apartment buildings to be retrofitted with sprinklers when the city began requiring them in new residential high-rises nearly 20 years ago.

Mr. Trump tweeted shortly after the fire broke out that his building is "well-built". The legislation was stimulated on by a significant fire in a so-called "fire-resistant" home block without any sprinklers on NY city's Upper West Side the previous December, and another in a Brooklyn housing project the very same month where corridor sprinklers stopped working.

It is not yet known what caused the deadly fire, which is still under investigation.

Nigro said more than 200 firefighters rushed to the scene.

For the first game in the Lookout Valley Tournament the Lady Jackets had 8 hits and scored only 2 runs for the 6-2 loss. Kamryn Moss, Addie Stanton and Bennett all had a pair of hits in the contest, with Moss collecting three RBIs.

"Fire at Trump Tower is out", Trump tweeted.

"It was a very hard fire, as you can imagine".

The commissioner said firefighters went with the Secret Service to inspect the president's residence. The fire is the second at Trump Tower this year.

Nigro said that despite a "considerable amount of smoke" spreading throughout the building, the structure had "stood up quite well".

Trump Tower, named for the 45th president, is also the headquarters of the Trump Organization and was the campaign nerve center for Donald Trump when he ran on the Republican ticket in the 2016 presidential election.
