Three claims of sexual harassment have been made against John Bailey.

Oscars president, John Bailey, is reportedly being investigated for sexual harassment.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences - the organization that governs the Oscars - launched an investigation after three harassment allegations were made against Bailey on Wednesday, Variety reported. If suspended or removed over the investigation, Bailey would be replaced by Academy first vice president and makeup artist Lois Burwell.

When reached for comment by CNN, the Academy said it "treats any complaints confidentially to protect all parties".

Rising US output, shale oil boom put OPEC in a tight spot
We retain our view that total non-OPEC production grew by 760 kb/d last year and that it will surge by 1.78 mb/d this year. Meanwhile, the IEA left untouched its forecast of total non-OPEC supply rising by 1.8 mbd this year to 59.9 mbd.

After that, "allegations must be substantiated by clear evidence of behavior that violates the Academy's Standards of Conduct". "The Membership Committee reviews all complaints brought against Academy members according to our Standards of Conduct process, and after completing reviews, reports to the Board of Governors".

Harvey Weinstein, whose studio Miramax was behind hits such as "Shakespeare In Love" and "Pulp Fiction", was expelled from the Academy in October following accusations of sexual harassment and abuse by dozens of women.

The organisation also insisted there would be no further statements "until the full review is completed".

Bailey did not respond to requests for comment.

Toys R Us said to be planning to liquidate its USA operations
The company filed for bankruptcy protection in September and since then lackluster holiday sales and heavy debt has taken a toll. Toys R Us says Amazon , Walmart , and Target discounted toys so steeply over the holidays that the toy chain couldn't compete.

Bailey told the annual luncheon for Oscar nominees in February that the 90-year- old Academy was reinventing itself with programs committed to inclusion and diversity. His exodus was determined in a vote by Academy members.

Though the position of academy president is unpaid and has traditionally been largely ceremonial, in recent years, it has become more demanding and closely scrutinized. "The Academy is categorically opposed to any form of abuse, harassment or discrimination on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disability, age, religion, or nationality".

Bailey, a former cinematographer who was elected president in August, has overseen the Academy during one its most turbulent times with the #MeToo and Time's Up movements sweeping Hollywood.
