According to the police, Krishna Sen alias Sweety Sen, from Uttar Pradesh, had created a fake profile on Facebook as a man through which she befriended a few women, and "married" one from Kathgodam in 2014.

Police in India arrested 26-year-old Krishna Sen Friday after she allegedly posed as a man and tricked two women into marriage for the dowry.

"We got married in 2014, she used to behave like a man, used to drink, smoke and also abuse", her first wife told a local news agency. "The girl from Kathgodam area lodged a report with the Haldwani Police alleging of dowry demands and threats after which the police made the arrest", Khanduri said. During questioning, Sen said she was a woman. Now, the police are also searching for the Sweety's family who visited the two women places to fix the marriage. According to the authorities, the following year, Sen and her family members traveled to another region in order to meet a woman Sen's been talking to over Facebook. She used the account to get in touch with women, Khanduri said. "Technically she was not a husband therefore it can not be treated as marriage", said Sanjay Joshi, sub inspector, Kathgodam who is investigating the case.

Woman posed as man and married twice

"We had no clue that Sen was a woman".

She also adopted male habits and even walked like a "confident man" according to police. She took around Rs 8.5 lakh from her wife and used it to set up a factory.

The Indian woman managed to maintain her illusion by cutting her hair short and wearing men's attire. She then tortured one of the women for dowry, said Nainital's senior superintendent of police Janmejay Khanduri. However, Nisha came to know that Krishna was not a man, but she was lured by her to keep silent, by promising the former of monetary gains.
