Afghan Officials Welcome US Raids On Taliban

Afghanistan

The latest airstrike of the US B-52 bomber targeted Taliban hideouts, their fighters and stolen Afghan National Army vehicles, according to U.S. forces in Afghanistan.

The U.S. Air Force has released footage of a B-52 bomber dropping a large payload onto a Taliban training camp in Afghanistan.

The US Air Force has carried out a series of airstrikes on Taliban hideouts near the border with Tajikistan and China as efforts are underway to suppress the Taliban-led insurgency across the country as part of the ongoing massive air campaign. Trump also stated that the authority of United States troops to target terrorists in Afghanistan would be expanded and approved sending an additional 4,000 troops to the country.

Duterte orders military to cancel helicopter deal with Canada
Opposition parties and human-rights groups have called for the cancellation of the sale of light-armoured vehicles to Saudi Arabia over concerns they would be misused.

"The Taliban can not win on the battlefield, therefore they inflict harm and suffering on innocent civilians", Nicholson said.

The US military pointed out that the first phase of this campaign began in November, two months after President Donald Trump announced his new Afghan strategy, which seeks to defeat the Taliban to force them to join the US-backed setup in Kabul. "There will be no safe haven for any terrorist group bent on bringing harm and destruction to this country". "All they can do is kill innocent people and destroy what other people have built".

Hecker said Afghan air forces are now also more capable of carrying out sorties against the Taliban and are conducting more missions than US forces.

Shirin Akhter MP, general secretary of the other JaSoD faction, however, said, "It's a verdict on a corruption case". Dhaka-based group Ain O Salish Kendra said a "total of 1,786 persons have been arrested in the last eight days".

The Taliban stronghold of Helmand is the top opium-producing province in Afghanistan, the world's chief supplier of the illegal drug and its heroin derivative. The airstrike was meant to "destroy insurgent revenue sources, training facilities, and support networks".

"Ongoing strikes in Helmand continue to degrade Taliban revenue sources and safe havens". The Taliban actually is not on the State Department's list of designated terrorist groups, though it often has carried out attacks on USA troops and other Americans.

During a separate hearing that day held by the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific, Dr. Seth Jones from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) told lawmakers that Pentagon data shows "there has been a slight increase in Taliban control or influence of Afghanistan's population".

All three again had stellar classes, led by Ohio State, which was second and nabbed No. 1 offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere. The big addition was five-star cornerback Tyson Campbell of Florida, who picked Georgia over Alabama and Ohio State.

"While U.S. air power is destroying Taliban support elements in the deep fight, Afghan A-29 [Super Tucanos] and MD-530 helicopters provide quick, lethal support to Afghan ground forces in the close fight", Hecker said. The U.S. -led military coalition in Afghanistan has rarely focused its efforts there, though it has occasionally targeted the Taliban and the Haqqani network, a Pakistan-based terrorist group affiliated with it, in the province.
