Farmers Insurance Open 2018: Tiger Woods looks to make cut in Round 2

Tiger Woods stalked his 90-foot eagle putt as if a victory depended on how well he could cozy it up to the hole.

Despite slowing down with just two birdies over his final nine holes, Day was still able to post the lowest score of the second round and erased any concerns about his 73 on Thursday. That closed out a second-round 71 and enabled him to make his first PGA Tour cut since August 2015.

He clawed his way back from two over par to one under with four late birdies, although there was nearly a wicked sting in the tail.

The cut was at 1-under 143, which was starting to look out of reach for Woods.

At the par-3 eighth, Woods hit a poor tee shot and came up short.

Adding to the challenge is the fact Woods hasn't putted on poa (annua) greens or chipped out of rye rough in a year. After riding out an early group of bogeys, Power played his way inside the cut line at - 1 and held on there right up until the 18th hole where a bogey took him out of the negative numbers.

Singapore dollar climbs to 3-year high against USD after Mnuchin's remarks
In a LinkedIn post on Thursday , Ray Dalio, the founder of Bridgewater Associates, took issue with Mnuchin's comments as well. More US companies and banks have said that they will look to invest more and create more jobs, following the tax cuts.

After a hooked opening drive and a double bogey on the 13th - his fourth hole - Woods, 42, rallied with three birdies on the back nine.

It didn't look good, because he chunked a weak opener on the par-3 No. 8, then sent a racing, menacing chip from in front of the green all the way to the back. 1, 5 and 7, and a nice recovery for par on No. 6.

At his first hole, the 10 on the North Course, his opening effort was so far left he could have taken relief from the first fairway. on the South Course.

Shane Lowry is well placed heading into the second round of the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour.

He made the cut on the number, the byproduct of a gutty performance that shouldn't be easily dismissed.

Woods, who finished at even-par 72 in his first round, finished with a 1-under 71 on Friday. Equally important was a par save on No. 6, where his flop-shot wedge from deep rough stopped four feet from the cup.

Jobless rates across upstate now top those of US
Jobless rates have been falling across much of the country, with NY state at 4.4 percent from 4.5 percent a year ago. Over the year since December 2016, the number of unemployed Mississippians decreased by 13,000.

Woods made his other two bogeys from greenside bunkers, both times missing 12-foot putts.

Smith was a shot back through one round, but overnight leader Brooke Henderson dropped a shot on her only hole played of the second round and Smith did not even get on to the course.

The importance was not lost on Woods, who has missed just 17 cuts worldwide - 16 on the PGA Tour - in his career.

The focus of the golfing nation - most particularly the thousands of fans roaming the grounds at Torrey Pines on Friday for the second round of the Farmers Insurance Open - was fixated on one player among the 156 in the field.

Woods made the turn at 2-over 38 Friday on the North Course, which was toughened up during a recent renovation.

His face was expressionless after he tapped in for par on the ninth hole for a 37, six strokes off the lead.

Dortmund want Olivier Giroud as part of Aubameyang deal with Arsenal
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that the two clubs are in discussions over the Gabon worldwide . Aubameyang fuelled speculation he was on his way to Arsenal yesterday by packing up his auto with boxes.

Woods' first shot of the day was a drive on the 536-yard, par-5 No. 10 that went 65 yards left of the fairway.
