Elton John Will Retire From Touring, But Only After 300 Farewell Concerts

Elton John is quitting touring after almost 50 years, according to a United Kingdom newspaper report.

The news follows recent bouts of ill health, with the star spending 48 hours in intensive care past year after contracting a "harmful and unusual" bacterial infection.

For what it's worth, he has announced his retirement before.

A natural entertainer, Sir Elton went on to tour all over the world, rarely spending long without hitting the road with his band.

He said he needs to dedicate more time to raising his family. "I thought the time is right to say thank you to all my fans and say goodbye", he told Anderson Cooper in an interview.

Past year I picked up an infection and I was "very ill and it knocked me sideways. but I still did 96 shows", he said.

Elton John has spent much of his career on the road touring, and has performed to millions of fans all over the world. "I don't want to miss them and I don't want them to miss me", he said. "We had children and I changed out lives", John, 70, said at a press conference in NY. Besides, he said, "I've had a good run". He also ruled out a residency but vowed: "I will be creative up until the day I die".

At the time, it was reported that he became "violently ill" during a flight home from Santiago, Chile, and was brought to the hospital as soon as he landed.

Even still, he managed to perform 96 concerts a year ago and downplayed any concerns that he's retiring due to medical problems. John is now performing a Las Vegas residency dubbed The Million Dollar Piano, which is slated to end this May after six years.

They also call for the inspector general to give them all communications related to the missing texts, among other requests. Johnson said that the text referred to the Mueller investigation, which had kicked off two days earlier.
