Burger King Whopper-splains net neutrality's repeal in new ad

Burger King Double Quarter Pound King

Fast food company Burger King is taking on the Trump administration's decision to reverse the landmark 2015 net neutrality rules and making fun of the top USA telecommunications regulator in doing so. It's only a couple minutes long, but that's more than enough time to get the point across.

A "slow MBPS Whopper" cost $4.99, a "fast" one cost $12.99, and a "hyperfast" one cost a whopping $25.99. The customers who are being fooled know there's no real reason for Burger King to slow down the delivery of their food; it's just doing this to squeeze some extra cash out of people who want to eat now.

Burger King is blasting the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) decision to scrap net neutrality rules in a new ad released Wednesday, using its signature sandwich to do it. Or, as one of the customers explains afterward, "The Whopper taught me about net neutrality".

New York City Sues Drug Companies Over Opioid Crisis
The city claimed this created a "substantial burden" through increased medical, law enforcement and criminal justice costs. Endo said in a statement that, "It is Endo's policy not to comment on current litigation".

To explain the effects of repealing net neutrality, the fast-food chain compares the complicated rules to its famous Whopper sandwich, creating "Whopper neutrality". When we asked the company why it decided to make this ad, it said, "We believe the internet should be like Burger King restaurants". And if you aren't a fan of FCC Chairman Ajit Pai because of his position on the repeal, you will appreciate the dig at him by the King at the end.

Still not sure what net neutrality is or why the repeal last December was so protested?

"Burger King's latest attempt to take on a complicated policy issue outside of its own industry reeks of desperation nearly as badly as its Cheetos chicken fries", said executive director Christie-Lee McNally.

Governor Cuomo vows to reopen Statue of Liberty
A ticket to access the Statue of Liberty's crown normally costs only $21.50, according to the company's website . During the 2013 government shutdown, Cuomo paid about $250,000 in state money to reopen Liberty Island.

Executive Director Christie-Lee McNally of Free Our Internet, a right-wing advocacy group, also issued a statement lambasting Burger King over the ad.

"The internet should be like the Whopper?"

FCC chose to repeal net neutrality in December, and because of that internet providers can charge customers and companies for faster access to some websites over others.
