Taliban gunmen launch deadly attack on Peshawar college

Agricultural Training Institute in Peshawar

The terrorists attacked the student hostel of the Directorate of Agriculture Extension on the University Road in the city, the capital of the restive Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

During the operation, two soldiers also sustained injuries and have been shifted to the Combined Military Hospital in the city for treatment, ISPR said.

The outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.

Fourteen persons, mostly students, were killed as burqa-clad militants stormed and opened fire at the hostel of the Peshawar Agricultural Training Institute here in Pakistan on Friday, officials said.

The assault came a week after a suicide bomb attack killed a senior police officer and his guard in the area.

Firing broke out at the hostel after three to five burqa-clad suspects entered the building, Geo news reported.

A comparatively small number of students and others were present in the typically crowded complex at the time of the attack because Friday was a holiday - the day when Muslims celebrate the birthday of the prophet Muhammad.
