$150 Mask Fools iPhone X Facial Recognition

An Apple iPad is used in Las Vegas

Anh acknowledged that preparing the mask wasn't easy, but he said he believed the demonstration showed facial recognition as a way to authenticate users would be risky for some.

In the video, Bkav explains how the life-size mask is made from a combination of 2D and 3D printing, plus makeup and silicon for raised areas like the nose.

The security experts at Bkav who shared the video of how they did this on the internet said that the Face ID technology is flawed since it can be fooled and as such is not really effective as a measure for security. For one thing, the mask's eyes don't move, and therefore can't make eye contact to activate the device's "attention aware" feature - though it may be worth noting here that this feature can be deactivated. The fact that Face ID can be fooled shows that biometric methods don't offer foolproof security.

Lonzo Ball tallies 1st career triple-double
The feud since has faded after Embiid was fined $10,000 for saying "f- LaVar Ball" in an Instagram Live video. Milwaukee is back in action Monday night when they host the Memphis Grizzlies.

Apple was proven right when The Wall Street Journal's personal tech columnist Joanna Stern made a silicone mask that failed to trick Face ID in her review of the iPhone X. And Face ID was not able to distinguish between the two.

Face ID is still proving to be more secure than some of the facial recognition options in Android, which have been fooled with just photos in the past. Apple says the chance of a person unlocking your phone with Face ID is 1 in a million. The relatively cheap mask apparently can bypass the handset's infrared sensors and mapping technology which needs to connect 30,000 dots on the user's face to confirm his identity.

The family says they don't want to disable the Face ID, but that they are concerned about privacy. It's created to be a more secure (and convenient) version of a passcode or Touch ID.

Missouri AG investigating Google for antitrust violations
Google agreed to change some business practices the FTC said were stifling competition in certain markets. Attorney General Josh Hawley announced Monday that he was issuing a subpoena to the tech giant.

The iPhone X starts at $1,000-for that kind of price tag we hope so.

Such sophisticated means to spoof the iPhone X Face ID means that regular iPhone X users would most likely not be the targets.

According to a report by Bloomberg, the upcoming iPad will feature a 10.5-inch display but will not make use of OLED displays and would rather stick with the LCD displays.

Qualcomm: Broadcom To Bid Higher, Say Bernstein, Canaccord, May Go Hostile
This could lead to a higher bid from Broadcom in the future, but there's no word on when Broadcom might make another offer. If Qualcomm had approved the deal, the combined company would have created major changes in the chipmaking industry.
